Depression – Let’s Talk

Depression is a serious medical illness. It’s more than just a feeling of being sad or “blue” for a few days. Depression is a feeling like you’ve lost something but having no clue when or where you last had it. Then a day you realize what you lost is yourself. Depression is a disorder of the brain. There are a variety of causes, including genetic, biological, environmental, and psychological factors. Depression can happen at any age, but it often begins in teens and young adults. It’s caused by a combination of biological, psychological, and social factors.

How you can come to know?

When there is feeling of “living in a black hole” then it describe person is suffering from it. One feels lifeless, apathetic. Usually feel angry, irritable, hopeless & restless. It’s different from normal sadness as in this one feel ’empty’ and thought of death and suicide are prone.

Who are prone to it?

Depression is a disorder which doesn’t discriminate any age or any gender. Women, teens are most likely to complain about emotional illness as compare to physical illness. Depression is due to many physiological feelings such as anger, agitation, memory problem, overeating, weight gain, feeling guilty etc. It is the part of bipolar disorder in which mood swings can affect your mental status.

Cause of high suicide rate: Depression is major cause of increasing in suicide rate. Deep despair and feel of hopeless one can make suicide feel to escape from the pain.

This is one of the medical illness people suffer from but don’t acquire treatment for it. One should realize it’s not just the chemical imbalance in your brain it’s a serious problem for which medication is recommended. Sharing your thoughts and feeling will not only give attention to your lonely and sad feelings it also give you proper care and solution for that specific feelings. It’s the psychology of person that psychiatrist are only for mental disorder and due to this people avoid to show there depression illness and get treated. But, they are the specialist for removing all kind of metal stress and disorder. So, get treated for your depression ‘Let’s talk’ about it and get treated.

We are aware about depression. However, it is true that those suffering from it are not forthcoming to share their experiences with others because he or she feels ashamed to do so. We should change this and encourage them to speak and share their burden. Depression can be overcome. We all can play a role in helping those suffering from depression overcome it. It is always good to share your feelings with others, if feeling depressed. Suppression of depression is not good. Expression is always good. If depressed, share your feelings with others. It will make you feel better.
